My case worker is Yesenia and she was very responsive and helpful! I'm sure the team over there has a lot going on, but for her to send reminders and what not was very helpful and it showed that she really cares about the families she works with. I definitely refer and families seeking childcare assistance to reach out to CDA and see what you're eligible for.

Felipe from this office is amazing and super patient in explaining everything.
This has been one of the first interactions I've had at CDA that actually made me feel like staff is here to serve.

CDA - This organization offers free or reduced cost childcare in San Diego County. My childcare business works with CDA and they are always professional, responsive and go the extra mile. I am happy to be a part of their team.

Very rude staff, treat you like your a low life because you need goverment help to get you kid in preschool. Dont send you correct paperwork, then you show up for your appt and are rude because you dont have what you need. Dont take time to fully explain program as there are many details. if you go just have your guard up for the runaround and judgement

My son has been part of this wonderful school for the last year. when he started attending CDA, he was on the spectrum of autism, well I can definitely say that CDA helped a lot my son on he's wickless which were: speech, interacting with others, and making eye contact. I am a happy mom with the outcome, currently is NOT on need of speech no more , and most of all I'm so THANKFULL with the staff, but specially with my sons teacher: Mrs. Lydia, Mrs. Elvira, and Mrs. Eva. I will totally110%. recommend you this program

Two sides of the coin here.
The positive: They help pay for my children's child care. Without CDA, I wouldn't be able to work full time and afford to live. All my money would be spent on child care costs.
The negative: CDA has horrible customer service. I have changed case managers at least 4 times in the last two years (not by choice). They constantly lose documents that I have sent over. I am left calling over and over to confirm they were in fact received so my child care funding is not stopped.
If you communicate a change, such as a different provider, they will tell you they will update the information. Then suddenly you get a termination letter or phone call saying you're responsible for payment. If you show proof that you updated the information with them (in my case, I have written proof through emails), they say they will make the changes that day, but they don't back pay. Therefore, I am responsible for the payment through that day when it was CDA's MISTAKE! I have appealed a decision once and won the appeal. And guess what? Not even two months later here we go again.
It truly is a nightmare. DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT any conversations you have with them.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Beth L.San Diego, CA01Jan 30, 2015
If you are a financial struggling family. This is the right place. This people helped me tremendously when I most needed. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, they always worked out with my until the end of my program. They help me financially as I was able to afford a high quality daycare for my children. I even had the option to enroll my children to a private preschool, if I would like, very helpful state program. I would recommend it to my friend with my passed situation. I am now over income for this program but I am happy they help me to raise my children in a safe place with the minimum cost compare to day care crazy rates.

My experience with this program has been a nightmare. Since I first applied it's as if I'm going back and fourth with CDA providing proof of income or some other document they suddenly decide I need to fill out ASAP. On several occasions they've asked me for the same documents I had already sent over. I will send by fax (using money I don't have to pay to fax) or drive all the way to their office and will provide everything they ask for then it's like a couple weeks later they will ask for the same thing again! When they ask for documents they give me a short time to provide them or threaten to drop me from the program, as if my schedule is completely open. I had to ask to have my case worker switched because he had messed up my case so bad last year, I received a letter stating I was no longer eligible, come to find out he was new and had put my new boyfriend as my husband, and increased my family size. Supervisors are no help either. The employees are rude and completely unprofessional, they treat you like you've done something wrong. You can go in their office and stand at the front desk and no one will even acknowledge you until it's convenient for them. Zero customer service skills. I thought this program was made to help you. My latest experience is i have four days to fill out and submit forms I've never filled out before and don't know what I'm doing because they've changed their policy and now require more forms. It's something new every month, adding a great deal more stress to my life. It's almost not worth it, and it makes me so upset that I'm near contacting someone higher up and complaining.

I am sorry to hear you have not had a positive experience in working with CDA. If you would like to share more specific details so we can address your concerns, please contact me at (619) 427-4411, ext.1403. We want to ensure all families receive the best service while on our program and your feedback can be valuable in helping us meet that goal. We understand that the paperwork and documentation can be overwhelming, but as State funded agency we must obey the California Department of Education requirements for subsidized child care services. However, we do have flexibility on how documents are submitted and there are other options for turning in paperwork that may help you in meeting the rigorous documentation requirements for subsidized child care. I would gladly speak with you on what those may be and how we may be able to simplify the process for you. Please feel free to contact me and let me be of service.
Sincerely,
Child Development Associates
