Gosh, where to begin! My father William, has been living and thriving at ActivCare Rolling Hills for more than a year now. He was residing at another assisted living/memory care facility in San Diego which met his needs for 3 years. His Alzheimers continued to progress leading to falls and behavioral issues which were no longer manageble there. We had to find Dad a new home which could meet his needs. After visiting several other places, many online due to COVID restrictions, we heard about Rolling Hills in passing. We made an appointment to visit and tour with Sophia and the rest is history.

My wife and I knew that day we wanted Dad to live there. I have said this many, many times over the past year..... This has been our miracle, such a blessing for Dad and our family!

We were concerned that the extent of Dad's behaviors of dementia would rule him out for admission. Dad was evaluated thoroughly and within several days (It took a bit longer due to COVID testing at the time). we moved him into his new home.

From DAY 1 my father has thrived at Rolling Hills. Despite the relentless challenges and progression of an Alzheimers diagnosis, he is truly 'living' with the best quality of life that we could hope for ALL due to the staff and care he continues to receives 24/7!

From the moment he wakes up in the morning, they have him dressed and out of his room, into the big 'great room' where he can socialize, roam, participate in activities and eat until it's time to crawl into bed at the end of the day. The staff treats Dad with dignity, respect and love. They have become part of Dad's family; he trusts them. They have taken the time to understand his ways and they never give up trying to help him even at his most trying moments.

The Rolling Hills administration team led by BB Smith is hands on! They aren't hidden away is back offices somewhere. We often find them in the great room assisting the residents and socializing with them. They take the time to 'know' each resident. The care team is THE BEST! They truly perform a ministry caring for persons with all types of dementia and other cognitive issues. They approach each resident individually. The needs can change hour to hour and they meet this challenge. We are so blown away over and over at how they work as a team to give Dad and everyone the best quality of life possible on a daily basis.

The activities are endless and tailored to meet the needs of each resident. My wife and I have participated in several ourselves and have had a lot of fun!

It truly takes a solid team to keep Rolling Hills running so smoothly and professionally. Maintenance, Housekeeping, Nursing, Admin, Dietary, Activities... The Rolling Hills team ACROSS THE BOARD, make it happen!

I will conclude with this: Since Dad began living at Rolling Hills we can sleep solidly at night; enjoy time with friends, go out of town all the while having full confidence and trust in everyone that Dad is surrounded by at ActivCare of Rolling Hills. We are grateful beyond measure!

      Kim and Karen

My aunt was here for four years. It took four months of going through hell before a consultant recommended this place. There is definitely a difference among facilities. At another, we discovered the facility covered up and had a fracture.
Currently, my mother is now in a non-memory facility. My first lesson is do not be fooled by how beautiful a facility or country-club like it is, although it enhances the experience. However, far more important the level of care they receive: responsiveness, empathy, communication (including with the family), and the expertise and the professionalism of the care providers and staff. With all of these, ActivCare gets five stars.
Mom is in a place that is like a resort with restaurant level food. Still, if I could move her out of there and into this place, but can't because she is not a memory patient, I would do it in a heart beat, and that comes from years past of now experiencing several types of facilities, including group homes and high end facilities. None are them compare if caretaking is a priority for your family.

I couldn't ask for a better place for my grandpa to be. My family always intended for my grandpa to have his final days in his home with multiple people in my family watch ing over him. Unfortunately health complications and dementia issues made that no longer a possibility. Rolling Hills Ranch is the next best option. The level of care and interactions I've seen have put my mind at ease that my grandfather is well taken care of and while at first he was resistant to living there now it seems like he prefers it in many ways. ActivCare is a wonderful place for him to spend his final days.

My experience with ActivCare started in March 2017 when I met with Sophia Anguiano to visit the location at 850 Duncan Ranch Road, Chula Vista, CA. When you are searching for a place to place your loved one it is a stressful experience. I remember how respectful Sophia was and how she helped us navigate the process and decision. I had visited other facilities, ones that were less expensive, but I chose ActivCare.

Why? I walked away feeling that they cared, the place was pristine, it appeared very safe and it was not big nor small. I like how they had a great room and all the wings met there, all the rooms were secured from others walking in. I could see on my initial visit how the staff was caring to the residents and how the staff managed and respected the residents.

Our story at ActivCare was not short, it lasted 4 years and 4 months. During that entire time my initial impression was continuously strengthened as I got to experience ActivCare with my mother.

My mother's time at ActivCare came to an end, the team was there to help her and me through the last weeks and days. The head nurse and her team, the care team along with management made sure the time my mother had left was quality and as peaceful as possible, they ensured I was there when my mother needed me most by being vigilant.

I am personally grateful to the staff at ActivCare, even after Eva's departure, we shared hugs and tears as we shared our stories of her time there.
I fully recommend you consider ActivCare as a place for your loved one based on my personal experience. I always felt comfortable that my mom was in good hands. It is not an easy decision to place your loved ones in the hands of others.

My father has had several health problems in the past 3 months which now requires 24 hour care. We were fortunate to find ActivCare. Dad now has the care both medically and emotionally to help him age with dignity. The entire staff, starting with the leadership of BeeBee and Sophia, are friendly, attentive and helpful. The entire facility is clean, bright and cheerful. We highly recommend ActicCare!

My 97 year old mother has been a resident of Activcare at Rolling Hills for four years. The care and attention she has been given during her stay can only be described as "superb." The staff is professional and caring. The cleanliness of the residential quarters, and facility in general, is spotless. The meals are well balanced, tasty and presented very well. Resident activities are offered on a daily basis. Residents are encouraged to participate in these activities and assisted when necessary as no one is excluded. I truly cannot describe the wonderful care the staff has provided my mother. During our family visits my mother talks about how much she loves the staff and enjoys the activities, meals and treats. During the year the staff makes a great effort to decorate the facility for special celebrations, and the holiday seasons, allowing the residents to participate and share in the joy and happiness of the occasions. My mother enjoys living at Activcare at Rolling Hills, and our family enjoys the peace of mind we all have in knowing she is being well cared for.

My 98 year old mother recently passed away in her sleep after spending almost two years at this lovely facility. I had been doing my best to care for mom at home, but her dementia worsened almost overnight and I knew that I needed help quickly. Sophia Anguiano bent over backwards to get mom into the Level II care wing as soon as possible, cutting the normal processing time by several days. Although it took mom a couple months to get used to her new surroundings, once she did, she never failed to tell me how much she loved living at Rolling Hills. She enjoyed meeting new friends and participating in the many activities. Residents were able to go outside into enclosed courtyards and there were also daily walks in the adjacent park and weekly "secret" bus trips to interesting places. The caregivers at Rolling Hills were always very helpful and knew how to expertly diffuse any situation whether that was a patient in distress or one experiencing a psychotic event. Some of my nicest memories were attending the special dinners for Thanksgiving and Mother's Day and singing along with the residents at the weekly concerts. As Mom's health began to decline, the doctor who supported the facility suggested that Mom start receiving hospice care. So in addition to her caregivers at Rolling Hills, Mom was also seen by a team from Sojourn Hospice. With so much one-on-one attention, Mom rarely experienced any pain. Furthermore, there was always excellent coordination between ActivCare and Sojourn and I was always kept informed of any changes in her medications or condition. Even when Mom could no longer participate in the activities, the caregivers would roll her wheelchair into the sunshine streaming through the window, where she could look out into the courtyard. I will always be grateful for the wonderful support Director Bee Bee Smith and the entire staff at Rolling Hills provided my Mom. I always knew that she was in excellent hands and that gave me such peace of mind. I highly recommend this facility.

Nice staff. Activities going on through out the day. The only thing I would complain about is that I've seen some residents walking around with food stained clothes. Not nice to see. As family members we would like too see our parents nicely dressed and we'll groomd. I feel that they are lacking in this area. One other major problem I see is that some of the residents are extremely aggressive and sometimes more often than not uncomfortable to be around and even more scary to think that my loved one can be put in a situation totally uncalled for. This would completely sway my choice of having someone I love put in their hands.

I can't say enough good things about these people. Everyone there is so kind and helpful. They really make an effort to work with you and your family. We always felt my Mother was in good hands. Sophia, Ana, Daniel and Mom's caretakers were always ready to help in every situation and trust me when I say we had a lot of situations. Dealing with Kaiser (which is trying to say the least), medications and physical therapy all went smoothly because of their dedication. I would highly recommend ActivCare at Rolling HIlls Ranch.
