Best Western Plus Marina Gateway Hotel

We booked a room to stay overnight after a trip to the USS Midway. The place is nice. They have very modern decor and the staff are friendly. They gave us a welcoming bag filled with waters and snacks. Those were a very nice touch as we were famished. Settled in our big room with 2 queen sized beds. Con-Our mattress needed to be replaced. It was a worn out and not a pleasant rest. Also the lobby coffee bar had terrible coffee. Our room's Keurig was not working. PRO-They have a small gym, pool, and jacuzzi. None of which we used. But folks were using the equipment in the gym. CON: The one thing we had hoped for was the breakfast. This BW location does not have a breakfast like so many others. There is a diner Next door which offered a 10% discount to guests. The food was good and you don't have to drive to find a place. The menu has a variety of dishes. Overall for a quick trip it was fine. There was plenty of parking and clean.

First of all I'd like to thank the staff here. They were very hospitable and friendly. The lobby was really welcoming and clean. We didn't stay because we just came to an event here. All the staff were amazing and very helpful. Everyone's that did stay at the hotel was satisfied with their stay.

Heartless employees. We had a family emergency and they wouldn't even be flexible on allowing us to change the dates of stay or refund the 1 night stay. Money hungry greedy people

This hotel practices Predatory Billing as they charge you for a room that was never occupied. Manuel the Manager is a do nothing manager who should be terminated. Be very careful when staying at this hotel , plenty of other good choices in the area avoid a headache and avoid this fraudulent property.

I so loved this room and this was the view I saw when I first opened the door and each evening thereafter for the 5 nights I stayed there. A beautiful sunset/water view... I had a king size bed and the room itself was quite large and well appointed. There were some minor inconveniences. For example, the sink stop didn't work. The bathroom door opens up closing off access to the refrigerator/coffee maker, etc. That could be set up better given the size of the room. The hotel itself was set up well with an ice machine and vending machines on each floor for convenience. There are numerous entries/exits so regardless of where you park your vehicle, you have fairly easy access inside and out. The lobby was nicely decorated for the holiday season. Staff are all in uniform and friendly/professional at the front desk. The maid staff were not the friendliest bunch. I had accidentally locked myself out of my room and the maid just happened to be there and saw me come out. I asked her if she could let me back in and she said, "okay" then proceeded to go about her work leaving me standing there. I asked her if I should just go to the front desk to ask them and she said "yes." Maybe language barrier? But no smile or acknowledgment. I would definitely stay here again not that I would score such a great room but it's in a good location and can easily access the city via car. You can definitely skip the restaurant next door despite the 10% discount. If staying on a Saturday night, it morphs into a club of sorts with loud music and less parking availability.

I looked near and far for the best reviews and best hotel and I found this place. The staff is really friendly and very accommodating. They allow pets if you want to travel with your fur baby.

There is a large parking, and sometimes it seems like the hotel is busy because the parking lot gets full. But there's always a space you can find.
The rooms are big and clean. We don't nit pick and understand that the hotel staff only has a X amount of time to clean the place. So of course you might find dust or something here and there. But the times we have stayed we haven't found anything. If we want it extra clean we will wipe down any areas we're we might be touching often.

The restrooms are clean and with great water pressure. There is a pool, washing machine, vending machine, small gym, small golf.

There is also a restaurant right across the parking. It will take you 5 min or less depending where your room is to walk there.
We haven't tried their lunch or dinner menu. But we did try the breakfast there and it was really good.

When ever we are visiting San Diego and plan to stay for the night we will definitely be back here.

The room was nice, however, wish the room had more light. The beds were comfortable. Slightly disappointed the family above allowed the kids to run and jump around. And the guy was smoking weed in the patio. I called the front desk and I am not sure if they took care of it because 30 minutes later we smelled it again

The nice place to live and stuffs are friendly, close to freeway. So far everything is pretty good. Cecilia is the best one who works in the front desk given a lot of help.

Poorly managed and numerous attempts to get invoice and missing points for 5-night stay. Not recommended.

This hotel is so loud! All night long the constant freeway noise kept me awake. It is also ridiculously expensive for such a bad location. I mean really why is it more expensive than nicer hotels in the gas lamp?
